What you don't know, can hurt you.
The whole point of a special event is in the name. It's supposed to be a great experience for the participant, spectator and host venue. Taking the time to plan out every detail from the simplest to the most complex, can make or break the whole experience. Were there plenty of restrooms and was the restroom location with the flow of traffic rather than against? What about parking, did the participant have to walk a mile to get to the venue or were there lines at the bus stop? Was the venue swept for security and were there ample eyes watching the event to control security? Was the weather perfect? If not, was there a plan for safe shelter in the event there was an unsafe weather related issue? The point is, any of these items and more can disrupt or ruin the event experience. Planning for every detail is like buying insurance, you don't need it until you need it.
